From Januaty to December 2024, more than 8 530 marriage notices were issued to the Directeur de l’état civil du Québec (DEC) for the Montreal area, of which:
• 29 % were or will be civil marriages celebrated by notaries.
• 47 % were or will be marriages celebrated by ministers of religion.
• 14 % were or will be civil marriages celebrated by a clerk of the Montreal Courthouse.
• 9 % were or will be civil marriages celebrated by a designated person or a lawyer (32 marriages).
