From January to June 2023, more than 3 600 marriage notices were issued to the Directeur de l’état civil du Québec (DEC) for the Montreal area, of which:
• 30 % were or will be civil marriages celebrated by notaries.
• 46 % were or will be marriages celebrated by ministers of religion.
• 14 % were or will be civil marriages celebrated by a clerk of the Montreal Courthouse.
• 9 % were or will be civil marriages celebrated by a designated person or a lawyer (4 marriages).
